What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture starts by listening to the body. Over time, through stress, illness, emotional strain or simply the process of being alive, our bodies can slowly slip out of balance, and over time these imbalances start to appear as symptoms, pain, tension, fatigue, digestive discomfort, emotional overwhelm or a feeling of being stuck. In Chinese medicine, rather than simply looking to remove symptoms and provide temporary relief, we look to understand the causes of symptoms, to redress these deeper imbalances and in doing so restore harmony and ease.

How does acupuncture work?

Rather than forcing change, acupuncture works by reintroducing the body to its own capacity for regulation and repair - its own innate healing intelligence. What can begin with a gentle nudge in a specific direction can cause shifts, and over time these shifts can deepen, setting the body on a new path, eventually becoming profound changes, particularly for those living with chronic, long-standing or complex conditions. Instead of suppressing or masking symptoms, acupuncture seeks to understand their message, why they have arisen, and offers a space to explore not only what is happening in the body, but why it may be asking for our attention.
